ABOUT MYANMAR MOTORBIKE TOURS
We did our first motorbike trip in Myanmar in 2017. We fell in love with the place instantly and had no hesitation in deciding we wanted to expand our Slow Cruze touring to this magical country.
Our inaugural group ride was in September 2019 and was enjoyed by all.
As with our Vietnam tours we travel with a local guide as well as a backup car with driver and a mechanic. We carry an esky to keep drinking water and beer cold.
The roads are reasonably quiet traffic wise and most travel is through mountainous terrain, with changing landscapes except for the plains of Bagan and Mandalay where the terrain is fairly flat.
Our Burmese guide is very knowledgable about everywhere that we travel and we get to enjoy a lot of back roads. From a visit to the ancient Golden Cave in Pindaya, through the rolling landscapes filled with vegetable growing on the road to Taunggyi, then on to the amazing Kakku pagodas and Loikaw. We do a day ride to visit the Kayan tribes where the ladies still wear brass coils around their necks. On to Inle Lake where we visit the floating gardens and villages by boat and then on down to the plains of the ancient kingdom of Bagan via Kalaw.
HIGHLIGHTS
* Unique Golden Cave at Pindaya
* Mesmerising Inle Lake, boat trip
* Visit to minority villages
* Temples of Ancient Kingdom of Bagan
* Mandalay artisans, market and cultural heritage
* Royal Capitals Sagaing, Inwa, Amarapura and U Bein Bridge
PRACTICALITIES
The bikes are Royal Enfield 350cc or Bajaj 150cc cruiser or similar. You will need to have an international licence.
Accommodation in Myanmar is good. Everyone gets their own room with an ensuite – we do not charge a single supplement on our tours. Obviously if you choose to share a room we will discount the accommodation component in the tour price.
Testimonials
Slow Cruze tours are now travelling in MYANMAR – our inaugural group tour was in September 2019..here is our first review:
I have just completed Slow Cruze’s inaugural Myanmar adventure with Col and Sue, and just to let you know how much I enjoy riding with them, it was my 4th tour and they have all been a wonderful experience, you could not go away with anyone better.
Myanmar was the icing on the cake for me, I’m giving it five wows out of five, lovely food, nice hotels, good bikes and nearly perfect weather all the way.
Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake and Mount Popa were amazing places with lots of nice markets to shop and also meet and deal with the locals. Roads were fun and exciting to ride on with plenty of fantastic scenery to photograph along the way.
I thought the 350cc Royal Enfields were ideal for touring the winding roads and offered plenty of oomph when the opportunity presented itself. Alex our Burmese guide was a gentleman and his backups looked after our groups every concern.
In my opinion if you are toying with the idea of doing a motorcycle tour you will not do better than Slow Cruze, I’m already thinking of a fifth
